Dr. Joan Short (née Pirkle) is a main character in the first, second, third and fourth of the CBS sitcom Life in Pieces. She is the wife of John Short, and the mother of Matt, Greg and Heather.
Biography[]
She was married to John Short until 1980 when they divorced in protest of the fact that same-sex couples could not marry. She is a therapist and works from home which affords her the time to spend with her family. She is the mother of Heather, Matt and Greg and the grandmother of Tyler, Sam, Sophia, Lark, Thalia, and Lucas.
